Gallery Ehva
daring and beautiful art

. . . . . . .

Dear Friends,

I could not keep gallery open for more then one reason, but the biggest one was me. I did not feel I was strong (and smart) to contine. I needed rest: do nothing time, be closer to Earth, Sea, Sun, Sky, my cat Bikini and my dog Hana.

Do I miss it? Yes! I miss our dinners, painting Easter eggs, my freedom to do with our space whatever I wanted to do, I miss people, soup and bread openings... I miss our little "community".

Do I miss ART? Not now. I am fine having my hands dirty, working in my garden.

What I do now? Hmmm, little art, lots of cooking...

Who I am now? Rebel, definitely!

So, be well my friends and thank you for letting me love you. I know we'll see each other, sonner or later.

-- Yours, always, Ewa

. . . . . . .

The Cape Cod landscape has been a source of materials and inspiration in my sculpture and painting since 1984. I scavenge for my materials at the beach, in the woods, at local tree dumps or curbside, gathering fallen wood with an eye for a dense root mass, the sinuous beech limb, cedar with its characteristic ridged surfaces, a graceful balsam Christmas tree ready for repurpose, even weathered wash-a-shore beach detritus from fires whose embers have long died out.

British essayist John Fowles so aptly described the woods of his native land in his delightful ramble, The Tree, "....there is certainly something erotic in them". I laminate, carve, construct and deconstruct these animated materials into sensuous hybrid relationships, often punctuated with color, that mimic the sensuality, the imperfections, the frailties of the human body.
